These notes get expanded upon when I finish work - sometimes I have to stay in the staff room afterwards if it’s something I feel I may forget, but mostly it’s a sit down with a cup of tea at home routine when I get in. Unfortunately, said job has me moving around a lot and there’s very little if any down-time, so I keep a small notepad in my back pocket and write scribbled notes. I’m currently writing a comedy series and most of my ideas come when I’m working my day job (the comedy is largely inspired by my job). What all do you attempt to keep track of? I wanted to see if anyone else wanted to share their process. Since January of this year, I've already recorded ten new ones. In the nine months, I came up with, maybe, fifteen different log-lines, who knows how much more I could have had that I can't remember now. I've started on this journey of screenwriting in March of last year. If you aren't doing it, I recommend you start, and you might be amazed at how many ideas you come up with I have found this to be incredibly helpful since the start of the new year. I categorize each by Joke, Logline, Dialogue (just conversations I enjoy), or just a Thought to think on more. Now, for the past month and seven days, I carry around a large journal that I note anything down that comes into my head. I never want to forget a joke, logline, or random musing again. In its place, I resolved to write down every thought I have that I enjoy or stands out to me. Let's be real, with my fat ass that wasn't ever going to happen. I already had a pile of other resolutions, and the list was getting long. I didn't write it down.Īs the new year rang in, I realized I only remembered less than half of those five minutes. I came up with jokes for every day of the week. It was regarding the cyclical nature of the week. I was sitting in traffic one-day last year and came up with what I considered, at that point, the best five minutes of stand-up I've ever come up with No Sale of Copyrighted Material or Sharing of Confidential Material Posts Made by ( u/deleted) Accounts are Subject to Removal Observe Dedicated Weekly Threads for Loglines, Memes, Etc Provide Descriptive/Informative Titles for Posts Screenplays MUST be properly formatted/Do not post your film without the screenplay. The approach Google takes is to just search for something and try to find it among hundreds of small notes you've taken. I like the notebook & page setup where I can look in sections and filter down further to find stuff. I don't like the Google Keep layout of having everything saved in separate small notes. I tried googling and help sites with markdown apps and it just wasn't working for me whatever syntax I tried. Having a hotlink to go directly to a networkshare didn't work in some other note taking software I tried (Evernote, Boostnote, Simplenote). Also links within the OneNote app will open to web browser or network share. ![]() My favorite feature is you can share with others (with Microsoft acct) your entire notebook but password protect sections so they can't see everything. Seamless picture and screenshot additions. Can have local files saved and sync'd with cloud (that might be part of our Office365 subscription). So I went through trying a bunch of different note taking software.
